Goddess Guan Yin Art Print
Goddess Guan Yin Art Print
Quan Yin/Kwan Yin is a Mother Goddess, a Goddess of Mercy. Her name, no matter how it is spelled out depending on the language or culture means "[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World.”
A Mother to all, she shows compassion and mercy to all in distress. In China she is usually depicted in all white with a vase of water capable of relieving suffering. In Japan she wears blues and other colors but is usually shown holding a baby. In India and other Buddhist stories she is said to have a thousand arms with an eye in each palm to always see the troubles of those who need her so that she may comfort them.
Because of the wide variety of characteristics of Quan Yin, I tried to honor each one a little bit. I also chose to show her with a partial wreath of pomegranates as they symbolize unity and honestly the world could use some unity right now.
