Thought to be a Triple Goddess, Brigid/Brigit is a Goddess of Fire. Brigid, the 'Fire of the Hearth', is the goddess of fertility, family, childbirth and healing. As the 'Fire of the Forge', she is a patroness of the crafts (especially weaving, embroidery, and metalsmithing), and a goddess who is concerned with justice and law and order. Lastly as the 'Fire of Inspiration', she is a muse of poetry, song history and the protector of all cultural learning.

Brigid was so beloved as a Goddess that when Christianity made its way to the Celts they knew they would be unpopular to paint her as an evil unholy Pagan deity so instead Christianity adopted her as St. Brigid or St. Brigit, with her stories becoming instead stories of miracles she had performed. And to this day she continues to be a beloved Goddess and/or Saint.
